
Here is a town that has had more than its share of disastrous fires having been all but wiped out in the holocaust years of 1901, 1906, and 1910.

There are some old buildings remaining but the town's main interest lies in the ruins of the huge smelters and refineries and this domed coke oven.

These operations turned out $50,000,000 in silver and gold. The nearby Alta Mine produced $32,000,000 in silver and gold.

The Gregory, with a record of $9,000,000, is in the neighborhood, as are the Nina and the Bertha.

The early 1890's saw the end of almost all operations.
